The exterior sculpture consisted of several old chairs which had been clad in hessian bandage and plaster of paris. They were strategically placed on the vertical upper surfaces of the museum walls. They signify the protection and preservation of the connections between people and their possessions. Often the chair is the main space that a person occupies in their home and the chair will soak up characteristics of the person who uses it. Sometimes chairs and benches are named in honour of someone who has passed away and they are remembered through it.

The positions of the chairs - on the inaccessible upper areas of the walls created a sense of drama and distance conveying, that with all our attempts to preserve and contain the chair's connection with the human form, it was an impossible task.
